I am a grandmother, but I still try to stay active. This year I have only done one triathlon--the "super sprint" one Jack Weiss had earlier this month. There were only two of us in the 65-69 age group and I was second. I unfortunately do not train much on the bike. It is time-consuming and dangerous. I had a really bad bike wreck in 2000 which broke my pelvis in three places and my collarbone and it was difficult to come back from that.
I was not able to participate in James Thruston's duathlons yet this year, but plan to do the one he is having this coming Sunday. There is not enough time in the day to train as much as I would like to. I play on a tennis team too. I like to train at the Town North YMCA master's swim at noon during the week, but it is a long drive for me to get there, and so I so not get there very often lately.
This training group is just what I needed to give my running a boost!

Thank you so much Ms. Nancy!! Huge congrats to you on finishing 3rd in your age group!!!! That is just awesome and you're time was fantastic!!!!!!!Yesterday just about made up for the last two training runs that haven't gone as well as I had hoped so I was extremely pleased. It was also a cake walk compared to the 18 miler I'd had to do the previous Saturday. Definitely a good day and big improvement on my time. I am so, so happy for you and your big finish yesterday!!
Dear Friends, We are writing to ask you to consider supporting research to overcome a children's disease that few have ever heard of. While neither of us likes soliciting friends, our own experience with it has left us no way to react other than to...
A personal note to you First, we thank you for the opportunity to educate you about Batten Disease. We hope you will help our wonderful friend, Chris Barton, in his effort to obtain pledges toward his running of the New York Marathon. Our only grandson,...
Friends, On Sunday, November 1st, I will be competing in the 39th running of the New York City Marathon. While this quest began as a personal one, I quickly realized that what's worth running, is worth running for a cause. I thought over many miles on...
Nancy we all saw your post on Shannon's wall. You Can post on your own wall and we will all see it. Make sure to include all the info if you want people to donate to your friend's site or something.
I will hope for more of the cool weather too!Nancy
Nancy you did great and you finished so that's what counts! You are an inspiration to all of us in the group and I'm so blessed to have gotten to know you this season. Keep up the great work! We couldn't have asked for better weather Saturday. I'm hoping this is a trend for our Saturday runs from here on out. I'm definitely a cooler weather runner :).
Shannon, thanks for asking. Saturday was perfect weather, but I was quite slow--slower than I thought I would be. My time was 2:00:05 on the race results. My actual time was 12 seconds faster, as it took 12 seconds for me to get to the start line. That gives me around a 12:50 pace per mile. I seem to be considerably slower this fall than I was last fall. I was happy, though, that I was not wiped out after Saturday's race. I definitely was not dehydrated, which I am sure I was after the Tour de Fleurs race.I hope you had a good race yourself.Nancy
How did Saturday's race treat you Ms. Nancy? We had much better weather than Tour de Fleur. Will we see you Wed night for hill training?
You did great on Saturday Ms. Nancy and it was great to have you join me, Amanda, and Sarah for the extra 2 miles. It's safe to say you are good to go for Tour de Fleur on Saturday. You'll do awesome!!
