Well this past Sunday marks Sarah and my's last day to ride the White Rock trail, ending our regular Sunday morning pre-church bike ride. The White Rock trail has been a good ride to avoid vehicles, but its curvaceous turns and narrow paths are running out of room for the growing crowds.
This past Sunday, Sarah took a rough spill after going off the edge of the trail into the crack between the pavement and the grass. She landed hard on her head. Her sunglasses gave her a black eye and the pavement scraped her shoulder raw. A nurse conveniently was riding behind us and insisted on calling an ambulance (this was a first for both of us). 5 minutes later, the ambulance rolls up and loads up Sarah. Fortunately there was nothing we needed to worry about, and they released her and said it was fine to ride back.
This oddly happened right after another friend of ours, Leah, took a similar spill on this same trail. This was Leah's third time out on her bike since her boyfriend Mike had gotten her into cycling. Leah and Sarah are now starting the Battered Biking Wives and Girlfriends Club that will begin meeting on Sunday mornings to refine their skills at the waffle iron while Mike and I are starting the Husbands and Boyfriends of Battered Bikers Club that will also be meeting on Sunday mornings to enjoy a brisk 20 mile ride followed by waffles.
We will now be looking for a new Sunday morning route back on the roads. Anyone have any suggestions of a fairly traffic-free, well paved scenic route in North Dallas?
